Language Experiment

PART#1.

 

 

Last week we were asked by our instructor to take part in a 2 part experiment. This was a very difficult and interesting experiment but fun at the same time. I tried communicating with my husband with only using my hands and body movements I couldn't use any verbal communications. we were watching television when I decided to use it for my part 1 experiment and I used my hands to express to my husband that I wanted him to change the channel to 434. The most difficult part in this experiment is he couldn't understand me to what I was expressing so I decided to use  my fingers to tell him what channel I wanted him to change it too. This experiment I had last week it was very interesting to me because a lot of people cant talk and that's one of the ways they communicate is using hand and body movement. after the experiment I asked my husband what was it like to communicate with someone who cant talk he said he sure found it very hard. But if we were both able to use sign language than it would be much easier for both of us.

 

 

PART#2.

 

 

At the beginning of this experiment I had used my hands and head so I needed to start all over again. I had never really realized how much I use my hands, head and face expressions when I talk. When I started again the second time I lasted the 15 minutes. For this experiment I used my mom I decided to do this experiment at the mall which made it even more harder for me. When I was communicating with my mom it was very hard not being able to point at something instead I had to describe the object or place. I personally think that its very hard not being able to communicate without using face expressions, hand and head movements. I asked my mom how was it communicating with me and seeing me not using my hands at all she said it was weird because she is very used to seeing me using my hands while I talk. I never though how us humans use our body while communicating with others. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Piltdown Hoax

The Piltdown Hoax:


1. The piltdown Hoax was discovered In 1908. It is know to be one of the biggest frauds in science history found by the British Natural History Museum.The Piltdown was one of the main headlines in the early 1900's, many people though and believed that the Piltdown man was the Englishman Charles darwson and sir Arthur who had introduced the Piltdown.

2. Humans fault come into play and affect the scientific process negatively due to the mistakes that were mad during the case of the Piltdown that could have been prevented and I should have been found out sooner when the fossils were given to them they should have examined to see if the fossils were real or fake.

3. I think that the Discovery of the Piltdown hoax had a very positive aspect to it because scientists were able to figure out that the skull was a fraud because of he chemical testings that joseph and Oakley had done and found out that the jaw and teeth didn't match the age of the skull. And that they weren't fossils they were bones due to this fact in my opinions the discovery had a very positive aspect in science.

4. I personally don't think that  removing the human factor from science will help to prevent errors like the Piltdown hoax from happening. without a human factor there wouldn't be any type of desire from people to discover new things in life with the technology. Even though us humans always make mistakes which that's part of life we all make mistakes and we learn from them.

5. After reading about the Pitdown Hoax I learned that I shouldn't believe everything what people say there are so many going on in the internet and news that are just lies. And us people always believe and think its true. we shouldn't believe everything and we should know who trust when believing but now we have to prove us a lot of facts for us to believe in.

Primates

Comparative Primates

LEMURS:

Lemurs are animals that are native to the African Island of Madagascar and other islands. Most lemurs live in the rain forest and some in very hot areas. Lemurs can be found over ground forest.
Lemurs eat both in the wild and in captivity eat fruits and vegetables some of their favorite fruit is apples,bananas and cantaloupe stay relatively small they stay between the size of a small mouse and large house cat. Lemurs typically roam in small groups with females carrying the dominant lead. Both genders have the same physical. Lemurs trait is not based upon adaption.Lemurs get adapted very quickly on the tree tops while climbing up in the trees.

SPIDER MONKEY:

Spider monkeys live in tropical climates and are mostly found in Southern Mexico and Brazil spider monkeys eat nuts,fruit,insects,eggs and leaves spider monkeys don't have thumbs however they can still grip powerfully to tree branches without a problem. Spider monkeys fly,climb and leap on trees most of the spider monkeys are known as quadrupedal due to the fact that spider monkeys use four of their limbs for movement for an example walking and running.Spider monkeys can be very large about 5 feet tall. The difference between male and female is minuscule. Spider monkeys use all four limbs for movement.

BABOONS:

Baboons are located in Africa and Arabia and some live in tropical forest and other baboons live on Mountainous areas and grasslands. They eat fruit,grass,seeds,bark and roots and they also have taste for meat. most baboons like to eat birds. The primates of this group are very large the male baboons tower over the females in height and weight. the male baboons act more aggressive most baboons like to sleep and eat and look out for trouble.

GIBBONS:

Gibbons reside in the Northern India and south Asia and china.Also gibbons are adapted in the forest trees They eat fruit, leaves,insects and nuts. These primates are very small apes,maxing out the average of 3 feet the difference between male and female is that females gibbons are smaller in size and weight. not all gibbons are the same color they range from colors black gray to brown. Gibbons are arboreal animals which means that they spend the majority of their time in trees. Living in trees give gibbons a safe distance from above the ground from predators.

CHIMPANZEE:

Chimpanzee adjust themselves in Africa rain forest woodlands and grasslands they can also be found in in the rain forest. Chimpanzees eat variety of plants,insects and even small animals. Chimpanzees are very familiar to us humans when chimpanzee are born they look very pale and white tail tuft that will darken with time.the chimpanzee are well adapted, some chimpanzee are quadrupedal where they are able to move using all four using hands and frets on the ground while walking they use their knuckles for support.most of the chimpanzee sleep and eat on trees. differences between male and female are the female chimps are quite smaller in size and weight.






As discussed these primates living is highly effected by the environment in which and how these primates are living. Primates don't really have allot of differences the only differences are size,weight and color as well for how some primates are quadruped and are able to walk in all fours, which it makes it allot easier for them to walk and do activities. these primates living play a huge role in their environment.

Homologous and Analogous

1. (A) The human bone and the bones of a front limb are two homologous trait.

(B) Both limbs end with five digits. eventhough they are very different sizes both limbs have the same structure.

(C) These two species do share common ancestor because of the vertabrates had a skeleton and passed the trait on to all of its descendants.

                   

2. (A) Sharks and Dolphins are very two analogous species.

(B) They are very similar for example, their side fins and their torpedo body shape.

(C) These two species do not share common ancestor. For example, dolphins decend from a Natural Selection. they are mammals from thee sea.
